More and more corporations and businesses are offering adoption benefits as part of their employment benefit package. Many organizations provide their employees with time off for adoption or other benefits designed to promote adoption. It is also becoming more common for companies to offer financial assistance (some up to $10,000!!), to defray the cost of adoption. Your company may have an AAP that you are not even aware of - ask about it! If your employer does not offer an Adoption Assistance Program (AAP) yet, we encourage you to approach your human resources department or your supervisor with a Proposal for an AAP!
