FTIA Kentucky Office Update

On June 26th, FTIA will have an Informational Meeting from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The seminar will be held at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Road, Louisville.


Families Thru International Adoption will join several other adoption agencies at the "Bringing Families Together" Adoption Conference on May 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. at Sheraton Suites, 2601 Richmond Road in Lexington, Kentucky.


Latin Family Connection (LFC) and Louisville's Latin American Club (LAC) both offer a variety of cultural events throughout the year. They joined together to hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt earlier this month and LFC recently celebrated Cinco de Mayo.

The next event offered by one of these two groups is LFC's "Ladies Night-Out" on Thursday, June 3rd, at Maracas Restaurant at 6:00 p.m.

Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption (FRUA) is having a spring pot luck at the home of one of its member families in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on Sunday, May 2nd, at 3 p.m. Pre/post adoptive parents and anyone interested in adopting from any Eastern European country is welcome to attend. Main course and drinks will be provided by the host family and each family is asked to bring a dish to share. Children, of course, are welcome. FRUA's focus includes: social and cultural events, orphanage support, ethnic resources, advocacy and outreach, and a lecture series that provides speakers on topics such as parenting, culture, and developmental issues. Families with Children from China (FCC) Louisville chapter, will gather at a local restaurant for its monthly dinner on Wednesday, May 12th, at 6:30 p.m. For further information contact Cindy Lowe at JCLowe@insightbb.com. Crane House, an Asian cultural resource center in Louisville and the University of Louisville are co-sponsoring a trip along China's Silk Road from May 4th through May 20th. For additional information, contact Bob Jones at 502 459-6924. Crane House also offers periodic programs for children and their families. These are especially appropriate for families with adopted Asian children to help everyone in the family become aware of Asian cultures. The programs are open to the public. The Kentuckiana chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCAKY) promotes the cultural heritage of Chinese and other Asian Americans. OCAKY will have a Mother's Day Dinner Party on the Spirit of Louisville on May 8th. OCAKY will have a summer picnic on July 17th. Visit OCA online at ocaky.org. The Iroquois branch of the library will present El Dia Los Ninos/El Dia Los Libros as part of its Bilingual Literacy Stories and Activities on Friday, April 30th at 2:00 p.m.
