Vietnam

In Vietnam we are still trying to complete a number of adoptions that were originated under the agreement that expired in September 2008. In the meantime, Vietnam is taking steps to become a Hague Convention country. It is expected at this time that the necessary legal framework will be established sometime in early 2011. Once the legal framework is established, it is uncertain how long it will take before Vietnam actually opens to adoptions from other Hague countries. It is hard to guess time frames, but my best guess is that the earliest Vietnam will reopen for US adoption will be late 2011.
