FTIA Families Educational Seminar

Our Ohio Office is organizing this seminar for all FTIA families, pre and post adoption, in the Indiana-Kentucky-Ohio area, who are welcome to join us on Saturday, September 18 from 12:30-3:30 pm at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cincinnati for the seminar "Parenting to Promote Attachment" presented by Dr. Gregory Keck. Adoption / Parenting Events

The Transracial Adoption Support Group meets every 4th Thursday of each month at Childplace Adoption Agency, 2420 Hwy 62, Jeffersonville, Indiana, 7-8:30pm. Serving southern IN & Louisville, KY metro area for anyone parenting a child outside his/her racial group.

The Kentuckiana Chinese School will hold registration and the first day of school on August 22. This year in addition to Chinese language classes, KCS has created a new class called "Chinese culture class". For more information contact Leda Wu at 290-8208.

The Latin American club of Louisville has scheduled the following events:

  • SEPTEMBER - The Club will participate in several community festivals.
  • FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29 - Halloween party and chili contest.
  • FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19 - Elections
  • FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17 - Christmas party.

The Louisville Free Public Library is offering the following programs:

  • Marķa“s Bilingual Stories
  • Saturday, September 25 at 11 a.m.
  • Bilingual stories and fun times for children of all ages. It is not necessary to know how to speak Spanish.

Pinata Play
at the Bon Air Library Saturday, September 25, 2:30 p.m. Read "Hooray, a Pinata!," take a swing at a piñata, and learn about the virtual piñata concentration game. Ages 6 and up, sign up required.


Multicultural Book Party
Saturday, September 25, 3 p.m. Stories, crafts, games and treats. Ages 5 and up.


Celebrate International Heritage Month

Eva Atkinson is coordinating efforts in the Owensboro, Kentucky area to highlight "National Adoption Awareness Month" in November. A meeting of local adoption service providers and representative of adoption support groups is planned for Sept. 3 (at Brescia University) to brainstorm ideas. If you have ideas for NAAM or a November event planned for "National Adoption Awareness Month" in the Owensboro, Western Kentucky area, please contact Eva at evaa@omuonline.net or call her at 270-686-4282, and she will add it to the press release to area media.
