Dear FTIA Staff:
I can't believe that we have been home for two weeks now with our beautiful daughter. We are all adjusting so well, and Caroline has been a little trooper.
We left for China on Thursday, April 7th, and arrived in Chongqing the following Monday. After a year of paperwork and months of looking at her referral pictures, we got our first glimpse of Caroline on April 12th - two days past her first birthday and one year exactly from the day she was found outside the orphanage gate. She wasn't too sure about us at first, but once we got her toys out, she decided we were okay. She did cry at first, but soon she was smiling and laughing with us.
She is so beautiful, and she fits right into our family - as if she's always been here, or was always meant to be here. We started bonding right away - she fell asleep on John at the orphanage, and on the bus ride home, she allowed me to give her a bottle. We soon found out that she is a great eater, and a great sleeper too. That hasn't changed much since we have settled in back home. Even the cats are adjusting to Caroline chasing them around in her walker.
Our trip was wonderful, and a great time to bond with our new daughter. She is full of grins and giggles. We could not be more delighted with our choice to adopt. My favorite part of the day now is when I go into her room in the morning - she looks up to see John and me, and gives us both a big smile.
Thank you, FTIA staff, for your help and guidance on our journey to our daughter Caroline!
With Love,
Kristina
